Stand To Reason is one of the best apologetics websites that I've found out there if you're looking for strong answers to tough questions. I really don't use it as much as I'd like to because just about every article or podcast brings up some fantastic thoughts and strengthens my faith. The bread and butter comes from Greg Koukl, the guy has a mind that works like a calculator, everything is reasonable and logical and built on solid foundations.
If you're in Southern California, BIOLA university has a great apologetics seminar every semester that usually has a few free sessions if you don't want to drop a lot of money on them. But they have partnered with STR in the past. Use it!

Panning for Blogs
You may or may not know that blogs were originally created to help users find interesting resources on the web. They've evolved to become an online diary of thoughts for folks to read which is cool too. But I'd like to take the next few posts to get back to the original purpose of blogging. I've posted some of my favorite websites in the sidebar, I hope you enjoy sifting through them. Anyway, I'd like to dedicate this post to:
Art Of Manliness
I've been disappointed by the push of society that has made 'manliness' into a synonym for sports, sex and greasy food. The Art of Manliness harkens back to a time when the word meant something honorable and admirable.

Cocky
How do you know if you're being cocky? I hear sermons sometimes and think, "I could do better than that". And my next thought is, "you're a cocky jerk". So I go on pondering if I actually am a better communicator or if I'm just being stuck up. If you truly are excellent at something is it cocky to recognize that truth? But if you truly are cocky, how would you ever be able to recognize that? You would always assume that you were excellent even though you're just over-rating yourself. Obviously if you go around telling other people how great you are at something, you're cocky. But what if in your own mind you are simply aware that you would do a better job at certain tasks than a majority of the people out there?
Tomorrow's question: Can you be insecure about whether or not you're cocky?
Obama Speech

I just watched Obama's inauguration speech. He did a good job, it was very inspiring and hopeful. But these days every time I tune into the political world I'm left with the same sense of purposelessness. Even if our country stampes out all of the problems president Obama eluded to, it doesn't change God's kingdom one inch. Heaven is no greater if America prospers and it's no less if America fails completely. So which kingdom will I invest my hope and efforts in?

I married a couple last week
I married a couple last week, but nobody knew about it. They're having a wedding in a couple months but they wanted to get married last week for financial reasons. So they weren't going to tell anyone, even the bride's mom didn't know. Which made it a little awkward for me because I'm friends with the bride's mom.
I got an email from the bride today. It just said, "did you know that everyone in our town reads the marriage license postings in the newspaper?"
Whoops.
